On April 29th I will be attending MNCBA’s MicroCon in St. Paul. It’s located on the State Fair Grounds and it’s fairly easy to find. Admission is only $6 with $1 off if you bring a canned food shelf donation. It’s one of the cheapest cons I’ve ever been to, however, the attending talent is enormous.

I’ll have books for sale, along with hats and posters. I’ll also have original art for sale. So if you have a favorite comic strip from the JaM archive (assuming I haven’t traded it to James Turner for a piece of his original art) you can buy it. However, if you aren’t able to make it, and you still want some original Joe and Monkey art please feel free to email me and we can work something out.

In other news, I don’t know how much truth this holds, but it seems pretty damning to me.

I am fairly politically conscious. When I’m at home I read political blogs all day. I check various news sites at least every half an hour. Today I came across something that made me flip out in anger. Time Warner has proposed a rate increase for postage and the Postal Regulatory Commission has adopted that rate increase. The rate increase directly benefits a large publisher like Time Warner because it lowers bulk shipping, while increasing rates for for smaller publishers who have smaller shipments.

This is absolutely unacceptable. Why is the government accepting proposals from a major corporation who will be the only one to profit from this proposal? It is totally unfair to small publishers, small business and to EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN.

Please, sign this letter and tell the Postal Board of Governers and your Congresspeople that you find this rate increase unacceptable.

They are tearing down everything that makes this country great.

Joe and Monkey is entering its fourth week on GoComics.com, and you want to know something exciting? If you read Lio, FoxTrot, Opus or Calvin and Hobbes and you look at the top of the page you’ll see that GoComics has a new comic. MY COMIC! For the past three weeks JaM has enjoyed a HUGE advertisement on the top of every single GoComics page with the BLOG ALERT proudly proclaiming, “New Comic: Joe and Monkey!”

I have no idea how much traffic that actually drives to the JaM page, but it’s awesome nonetheless. I won’t learn how many people are reading the comic until June or July, however that doesn’t bother me. It’s there, and it’s awesome. Frankly, I can’t help but feel excited by the fact that JaM is along side some of the best comic strips ever made. Besides those already mentioned GoComics is an online home to such greats as Candorville, For Better or For Worse, Liberty Meadows and Doonesbury. On a side note, the past few weeks of Doonesbury have been particularly AWESOME.

If you enjoy my comic and are in Nebraska, or Western Iowa this weekend you might want to head over to Wayne, NE where I will be sitting around at Willycon trying to act like I’m not affraid of the person sitting next to me. I’ll have books, posters, drawings and myself. So come early and often. This is the chance of a sometime.

I’m knee deep in taxes right now. It’s a pretty big pain in the butt. I’m going to have an accountant do my taxes next year.


UPDATE: I have just finished my taxes. I don’t owe very much. I also didn’t make very much last year, so that’s not surprising.

The King almost got blowed up while looking at the Ford presentation of Hydrogen-Electric plug-in Hybrids. Comment all you want on how it was “so close,” what I want to know is why the hell Ford would make a Hybrid whose hydrogen tank confromed to an electircal plug?

There comes a time when you need a change. Sometimes you look ahead to find new things. Sometimes you look behind and find something you can reuse. This is the later.


No Pants Tuesday was my first online comic. It served its purpose and allowed me to create Joe and Monkey. Now Joe and Monkey is doing extremely well and I no longer want to bring NPT back from the grave, even to show people what I used to work on. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the comic, but I’ve outgrown it. Perhaps one day it will see the light of the internet again, but until then it will remain hidden somewhere on one of my external hard drives or backup discs, tucked away where I can’t find it.


NoPantsTuesday.com will now feature my blog where I will talk about comics, the making of comics, politics or something neat in my life. It might even feature a sketch or two. However, that’s unlikely due to the fact that I never sketch. I am a precision artist and prefer to only use my drawing skills when I’m actually working on my comic. Which is why it always looks like crap.


Anyway, I hope you enjoy this, but if you don’t I wish you a long and painful death.
